Transfer-Molded Converter-Inverter-Brake Power Modules for Inverter Motor Drive
Date: September 30, 2020
Time: 3 PM CET
Motor drive systems for industrial applications are proliferating due to the growth of industrial automation and robotics, and they account for more than half of electrical energy consumed. These systems require highly efficient and reliable components to work within harsh industrial environments. Effective power semiconductor solutions for industrial motor drive require advanced design, sophisticated packaging including substrate material, and high quality and reliability standards. ON Semiconductor’s new Transfer-Molded converter-inverter-brake (CIB) power modules (TM-PIMs) solve reliability and robustness challenges for high power industrial drive application such as industrial motors and servo drives. The TM-PIMs offer a truly new paradigm for industrial motor drive
- Learn about new Transfer-Molded Power Integrated Modules(TM-PIMs) for industrial motor drive from ON Semiconductor, including the features, process, structure, topology, and certification.
- Understand the advantages of TM-PIMs from ON Semiconductor over competitive devices and appliances.
Power efficiency that drives the future
Over the last couple of years new innovative semiconductor technologies emerged that generate a paradigm shift in the power management market. Silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) now offer much more efficient power conversion properties.

ON Semiconductor Webinar: Improving Solar Inverter Efficiency and Power Density with SiC Hybrid and Full SiC MOSFET Modules
The worldwide demand for solar inverters continues to snowball, driven both by the growth in renewable energy and the decreasing cost of electricity from solar farms. These solar farms use strings of solar panels rated at 1100 V or 1500 V. Using 1500 V reduces the overall installation cost per kilowatt compared with 1100 V systems but requires higher voltages on the boost and inverter circuits in the solar inverter. For reduced maintenance costs, solar farms generally use several smaller interchangeable inverters rather than one large central inverter.
ON Semiconductor Webinar: Silicon Carbide (SiC) Solutions for Electrical Vehicles
The widespread popularity of electric (BEV) and plug-in electric (PHEV) vehicles continues to grow at a rapid pace – an estimated 300k BEV sold in the U.S. in 2019, capturing roughly 2% of the total new car sales. On each one of these vehicles is an On-Board Charging (OBC) system that converts AC voltage from the grid to DC voltage to charge your battery.
