Brexit preparation at Avnet in EMEA
Information for Customers and Suppliers regarding United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union
We are fully aware of the potential risks associated with the UK finally leaving the European Union. Avnet’s European business units and our logistics department have implemented all necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition. As previously communicated, we assume the responsibility to maintain the continuity of supply to our UK customers.
October 2020 Update:
Based on the current status of the talks between the parties we assume that the Brexit transition period will occur without a formal agreement on December 31, in which case the UK becomes an export country to Avnet delivering to the UK from the EU. The processes in our systems reflect this scenario and has been tested successfully.
We hope that the UK and the EU come to a stable agreement on Northern Ireland as well. Unless any other solution will be agreed, we will treat Northern Ireland as part of the United Kingdom and any delivery as export from the EU.
Should there be a last –minute general agreement between the EU and the UK, we are fully prepared and will quickly adapt our systems and processes.
Our dual-warehouse logistics footprint in Europe will allow us to manage all deliveries to the UK (and Northern Ireland) in the same way, with a slight change of procedure to UK customers and business as usual to EU customers.
